Mike’s Story
He spent 26 years in the Navy and Navy Reserve.
He spent almost a year in Iraq supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom and received multiple awards, including U.S. Navy and Army Commendation Medals.
He was University of California Professor for over 15 years dedicated to mentoring graduate students and was a nationally respected scholar.
He provided training and support to thousands of California School Psychologists and teachers serving at-risk students.
Raised with Midwestern values, Mike’s journey from Boy Scout to Scout Leader or Eagle Scout shaped the lifelong integrity he carries today.
Mental Health History and Treatment
He was under the care of a psychiatrist for PTSD and depression and was taking Wellbutrin.
There is now evidence Wellbutrin can cause blackouts.
After the crime, Mike immediately received EMDR treatment for PTSD.
During 2 years on bail, Mike did not have any PTSD challenges.
Post-conviction, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs also diagnosed him with PTSD.
